Seniors v Ladies (Fri 7/8/26)

In Friday’s annual stableford match, the seniors ended up beating the ladies by 5 matches to one but three matches were won by a single point. The aggregate points score was 131 to 119, which shows that things were very close.

Everyone enjoyed the event, including the scones, strawberry jam and clotted cream afterwards!

Coronation Foursomes Regional Final (Thu 6/8/26)

Thanks to Rowena for this write up and photo.

The regional final of the R&A Coronation Foursomes was held at Hazel Grove Golf Club on 6th August. Qualifying on behalf of HGC, Caroline Smith and Rowena Allen finished in 6th place out of 71 competing pairs, with 38 stableford points. The winning pair progress to St Andrew’s in September along with the finalists from the 7 regional events held across the UK and Ireland. Whilst missing out on this opportunity, it was a very enjoyable, well organised day which will be remembered for some fabulous long putts, the half time cream tea and thoughts of what nearly might have been, if the 21 points scored over the first nine could have been repeated across the remaining 9 holes!

Ladies Comps (Thu 6/8/26)

In the Par Trophy, Louise Gerald went from being the runner up last week to winning this week with a cracking score of 5 up. Kate McKenna was second with 4 up and Lisa Warnes third with 2 up.

In the front nine stableford, Kerry Bailey won with 23 points edging out Karen Stockton by one point.

Bunkers

I’ve received a few complaints over recent weeks about the condition of the bunkers after they have been used. This was mentioned in a recent missive from Greens. As one member remarked “it’s not poor raking, it’s no raking.

Here are some of the photos I received. Please be courteous to your fellow players and green staff and leave the bunkers in the same or preferably better state than when you went in.
