Up Swing Golf

Another longer gap between newsletters than I was hoping. It’s certainly busy down at the club and a little toasty, as you might have experienced!

Introducing UpSwing Golf — The Junior Equipment That Grows With The Player

One of the most common frustrations for parents of junior golfers is the cost of constantly replacing clubs as their child grows. UpSwing Golf has solved that problem with a genuinely innovative approach to junior equipment.

At the heart of the brand is a patented, pro-level modular system that allows the shafts on each club to be swapped out as a junior develops—eliminating the need to buy entirely new sets at every growth stage. Crucially, the system is engineered to maintain balance, feel and performance throughout, so young players are never compromised by ill-fitting equipment.

Sizing is based on height rather than age. The range spans three tiers: the Junior 4-Club Set (up to 42″), the JR Varsity 7-Club Set (42″–54″) and the Varsity 11-Club Set (54″–66″). Growth Kits are also available, allowing parents to upgrade between sizes without starting from scratch.

Importantly, these are not scaled-down adult clubs. Every element — shaft flex, head weight, club length — is specifically engineered for junior swing speeds, promoting better technique, consistent swing mechanics and confidence from the very first swing.

Lady Captain’s Away Day (Tues 23/6/26)

Over to Wendy Jenkins for the match report!

Lady Captain chose Bramhall Golf Club for her Away Day on Tuesday 23rd June, with 27 players attending. The general consensus was that the course was beautiful and the hospitality and food of a high standard. The weather was, well, in a word –  scorchio!

Despite the extreme heat, some very good scores were entered.  The winning 18-hole team were Jane Perks, Pat Jefferies and Michele Rea. In second place were Mary Cockbain, Jo Egerton and Caroline Smith. The 9-hole winner was Lynette Lodge. Winner of nearest the pin was Mandy Gilbert and winner of nearest the line was Pauline Keeling. The organisers (Mandy & Wendy) also received a beautiful gift from Lady Captain. The only birdie of the day was from Kate Morris who chipped in magnificently for a 4 on the 1st.

Medal 4 (Sat 20/6/26)

Well done to Howard Gill for winning the Division 1 prize with a nett 69. Roger Laitt was the runner up with a nett 72. Very honourable mention to Ivor Davies who recorded a nett 64 but unfortunately he hadn’t completed enough competition rounds for him to be eligible to win a prize.

In division 2, captain Mike was the winner with a nett 64 (a day to late in my eyes – see below!!) and Alan Bradley was the runner up with a nett 66.

Junior Comp (Sat 20/6/26)

Ollie Grieves, Ted Ashton & Charlie McCann were the winners with a gross 40 and Charlie Blake, James Waterhouse & Gabe Gibb were one shot adrift to finish as runners up. We didn’t use handicaps for this event.

Please note the next junior comp is for HGC junior members with a WHS handicap and will take place on Mon 20th July with tee times from 0930.

Nine & Dine (Fri 19/6/26)

The winning team of the 9 & dine with a huge score of 52 points were Johnny Yates, Jane Wilkinson, Jaysen Rowlinson, & Fiona Webster. Ten points behind and in second place were Ceri & Adam Hyde and Gillian & Eric Healey.

National PGA Captain Pro Challenge (Fri 19/6/26)

As Mike mentioned in his weekly missive, we had a great day out at Stamford. We weren’t great on the front 9 but found some form on the back nine to post a respectable score. No trip to Italy for us this year then Mike?!

Ladies Comps (Thu 18/6/26)

Fran Adamson won the 9 hole comp and Mary Cockbain was the runner with Jean Green fisnishing third.

Orla Weir won the Bunty Booth 18 hole competition and qualifies for the regional finals next year, Sue Wright was second and Jo Egerton finished third.
