Volunteers Please

We are hosting the MCJL event at Hale GC on Sunday with tee times from 1400. Ourselves and five other clubs will be fielding juniors in this competition. If you could spare a couple of hours to help with ball spotting or helping the juniors find their way round the course that would be hugely appreciated. Please contact me if you can.

Upcoming

The Pro Am takes place on Saturday 8th July and we still have three team spaces left. If you’d like to play (remember it’s very much open to men and ladies), please contact me.

Also the Ping fitting day on the Monday afterwards (10th July) still has some spaces so again let me know if you’d like to try the fantastic new G430 range of golf clubs.

Archie Preston

On Sunday, the 14 player mixed Hale side beat Turton GC away 4:3 and now march on to the last 16 of the competition. Congratulations to all the players! Apparently it was a very humid afternoon which ended in torrential rain, thunder and lightning so it was a relief to get the game completed.

Junior Stableford

There was no men’s competition on Saturday but that didn’t stop the juniors playing a nine hole stableford. Ollie Grieves and Jack Hickson both scored an excellent 22 points but Ollie finished in top spot following the card play off. Oliver Mills finished in third place.

Seniors Stableford 3 F9

Last Wednesday’s front nine Seniors’ Stableford was won by Derek Marshall with a fine score of 22 points. Peter Wolfenden finished seond with 20 points and John Kennedy lost on a card play off having also scored 20 points to finish third.

Mixed TNC Dinner on 15th June

The first mixed TNC dinner was hosted last Thursday and proved to be very popular and a great success. Thank you to Irene Kirk for all these wonderful photos…. you can probably create your own captions!

Be Careful

One of the members reported having to put out a cigarette butt during last week’s very dry spell with bottles of drinking water. It might have been a walker coming past but all the same please be careful and vigilant.

The Course shows it’s Teeth

Just a few results to go through this week.

Plus a reminder that there are still two team spaces available in the Pro Am which takes place on Saturday 8th July. Two days after that on Monday 10th July, we are hosting a Ping demo day here at HGC. If you would like to get involved in either (or both!), then please contact me.

Medal 4

The course showed it’s teeth for Medal 4 as the winning score was a nett 70. John Kennedy came out on top. Mike Thompson was beaten into second place following a card play off. Peter Hindle finished third with a nett 71.

John Kennedy and Johnny Yates at the presentation

The lowest score of the competition was actually a 68 nett which was recorded by Richard Bailey on Friday. Unfortunately because of the Men’s Strokeplay General Terms of Competition (which you can read by clicking here) he was not eligible to either win the event or a prize.

The same thing happened the previous week in Medal 3 when Richard Robinson recorded an excellent nett 63. In my haste to write my newsletter last week, I neglected to mention it so my apologies Richard.

Ladies Summer Meeting

Last Thursday the ladies played their Summer Meeting. It was a shotgun start and it was two lots of foursomes scores to make up a team of four overall score.

The winners were Kairen Seaton, Sue Fallows, Gwynneth Bramwell & Lynette Lodge with 73 points. Gill Kay, Amanda Greaves, Helen Davies & Pauline Keeling finished second with 71 points following a card play off. Third place went to Sally Blackburn, Pat Jefferies, Sally Budd & Noelle Morris.

Help!

If anyone happens to be knowledgeable about Mailchimp, I’d be very grateful if you could share a few minutes with me as I’m perplexed as to why sometimes my newsletter sends and why sometimes it doesn’t! Thank you.

Bell Cup Team March On

In this week’s missive, we look at news from the world of professional golf, a great win for the HGC ladies, other competition results and photos from Ollie Grieves frrom Selby GC.

Men’s Professional Golf

Well in the world of men’s professional golf the merger of LIV golf, the PGA Tour and the DP world tour came as a huge shock on Tuesday. It will be very interesting to see how all this plays out in the media over the coming weeks and months.

A much more heart warming story from the professional game that was trending on Twitter earlier in the week was about Viktor Hovland. He won the Memorial on Sunday and then the following day, he was spotted caddying for his friend and former team mate at Oklahoma State, Zach Bauchou, who was attempting to make it through to the final stage of US Open qualifying in Columbus, Ohio. Very classy Viktor…

Bell Cup

Well done to our ladies team that deafeated Ringway at home on Sunday to progress to the fourth round of the Bell Cup. The score was 4:2 when the final match was called off the course. We will play Prestbury in the next round but as I write this, it has not yet been confirmed whether this match will be at home or away.

The team below are left to right: Sally Wright, Louise Gerald, Tiff Fielden, Anne Webster, Rosie Gerrard (team manager & co-ordinator), Helen Davies, Gillian Brogdon and Irene Kirk.

Medal 3

Congratulations to Mark Savill for winning Medal 3 on Saturday with a nett 68. Andrew Cowan was second with a nett 69 and John Kennedy finished in third place.

Interestingly, there’s still a dearth of twos with only four being recorded over the two days of competition.

Ladies Competitions

In last week’s 18 hole Max Medal competition, there was a tie at the top with three players on nett 70. Emma Daynes won on countback, Tiff Fielden was second and Vicki Wells was pushed down to third.

The same thing happened in the nine hole max medal with three players tied at the top. The winning score was nett 34. It was Mary Cockbain who finished on top in this event following the card play off. Sue Bromley was second and Fredda Hunt was third.

Mid Cheshire Junior League at Crewe GC

Olly Mills and Will Grant represented Hale in this fourth fixture of the six event series on Sunday. Will did great in his first MCJL event and Olly had his best performance to date recording 33 stableford points on a course that he had never even seen before. Olly also played in his first men’s comp the day before so very well done sir!

The next event is here at Hale on Sunday 25th June with tee times booked from 2pm onwards.

Ollie on Tour

We mentioned Ollie Grieves’ golfing travels in last week’s newsletter and he’s been away again last weekend, this time playing at Selby GC in his third Northern Junior Golf Tour event. This was his best performance to date as he finished joint second with a nett +1.

Thanks to Ollie’s grandfather and HGC member John Book for sending over the wonderful photos below (I hope the newsletter does them justice as I have to make the image size considerably smaller) and we’ll finish with a lovely quote from John:

“Ollie seems to relish the new courses challenge which he hasn’t seen any of these before the day he turns up to play, but also great that friendships with boys from golf clubs all over the North are being made, all in all a great experience in progressing with this wonderful game, and cannot wait until Barrow in July.”

Emphatic Archie Preston Win

The season is most definitely in full swing as we have a long newsletter this week with loads of results and golf news to report on. Please enjoy!

Firstly, a quick reminder about the Ping Demo Day which takes place at HGC on Monday 10th July. We still have a few spots left so please contact me to reserve your complimentary space.

Frolic

On Monday, teams of four played a reverse waltz stableford from the red tees over the back nine holes. It was a really great turnout and the winners were Kairen Seaton, Joe Bluer, Nick Horrocks and Sally Budd with 48 points. Vicki Wells, Michael Wells, Louise Gerald and Roger Sheen recorded the same score but were beaten into second place following a card play off.

Archie Preston

On Sunday, we played Flixton GC in the Archie Preston at home. The format of this competition is team mixed pairs. Hale romped to a fabulous victory winning all of the first six matches meaning the final match was called in from the course. We will find out in a few days who our next opponents will be.

The team comprised of the Captains; Chris Marsh & Brian Greenbank; Mandy Gilbert & Andrew Cowan; Helen Davies & Paul Simpson; Clare Withey & Dave McGlennon; Sally Budd & Dave Smith and Gwynneth Bramwell & Jonny Gray.

Well done to the whole teams and the photos below show that there was still time for a bit of frivolity…

MCJL

This week our three intrepid juniors played at Styal GC, a course that none of them were familiar with, and acquitted themselves excellently. Seemingly the course was playing tricky with it’s firm greens and thick rough. Junior captain Matthew Hodder recorded 34 points to finish in 7th spot. Alex Keeling was 8th and Sam Morris 17th in a large field of golfers. All of the boys were taking time away from their GCSE revision to represent the club so very well done.

Spring (ish) Stableford

The rescheduled Spring Stableford took place on Saturday and Chris Wood rolled back the years and rolled in the putts to shoot a magnificient 44 points. Dave McGlennon scored a very impressive 41 points to secure second spot. Chris Ravenscroft was third with 39 points. Only four twos were recorded during the competition.

Junior Stableford

Well done to junior captain Matthew Hodder for winning Saturday’s junior stableford with 17 points. He took a break from GCSE revision to take part. Ollie Grieves was second.

Ladies Away Day

The ladies had a lovely day at Astbury GC last week for their exchange day. The winners on the day were Gillian Healey, Lynette Lodge, Kathleen McNairney and Jo Egerton with 92 points. Clare Withey, Sue Bryant, Vicki Wells and Sally Blackburn also recorded 92 points but were beaten into second place on count back. Mandy Gilbert, Wendy Jenkins, Judith Guest, and Val Nelstrop recorded 89 points to finish in third place.

The nearest the pin prize was won by Mandy Gilbert and Jennifer Bradley won the nearest the line challenge. Thanks to Sue Bryant for these wonderful photos and to Gail Sampson & Louise Gerald for orgaanising the day.

Ollie on Tour

Thanks to John Book for supplying this text and these great photos of his grandson and junior member, Ollie Grieves. He was representing Hale GC earlier int he week in his second Northern Junior Golf Tour event at Carlisle GC.

The course was tough but really pleasant and Ollie finished fifth on two under par nett out of his intermediate group of 19 players.

At Crewe GC, a couple of weeks ago Ollie finished fourth out of tweleve in his age group. Ollie is playing in another of these events on Wednesday at Selby followed by his last one at Barrow in July.

As John pointed out, these events have been a really good experience for Ollie, and despite him being really nervous when his name gets announced on the first tee, he is able to put himself to the test admirably.

Well done Ollie for having the courage to play in these competitions and we hope your results continue to go from strength to strength.

Inaugural Hole in One

Well done to Bill Wrigley for recording the first ever hole in one on the new fourth hole last week. He was watched by Brian and Phil Long. It’s Bill second hole in one, the first was recorded at Sale GC.

Photo

Thanks to Noelle Morris for sending in this evening photo of the course. It’s of Gillian Brogdon and Gillian Healey following their foursomes matchplay victory last week over Nancy Fallows and Noelle.

Magnificent Mills

This week we cover the results of the last seven days or so and discuss payment of members guest green fees. Plus there’s a reminder about the upcoming Ping demo day.

Ping Demo Day here at HGC

Ping are coming on Monday 10th July with times between 1140 and 1420. Please drop me an email if you like to come along and try their latest range of G430 clubs, which is the top selling driver, fairway, hybrid and iron model year to date in the UK. We reckon some distance and consistency is sure to help your game in 2023 and beyond.

Medal 2

Well done to Alex Mills for shoiting a gross 74 for a nett 65 to win Medal 2 on Saturday. He;s worked hard at his game so it just goes to show what a bit of focused practice can do. Ade Kerhaw recorded a nett 68 to finish as runner up. Phil Long, just back from being poorly, also recorded a nett 68 but lost out to Ade on a card play off.

Nine & Dine

Michael & Vicky Wells and Gail and Tony Sampson won the back nine best two from four stableford on Friday with 46 points. Just one point behind in second place were the all female team of Sue Bryant, Jean Green, Pauline Keeling and Anne Webster.

Ladies Competitions

Congratulations go to Helen Davies and Vicki Wells for winning the R&A Coronation Foursomes stableford on Thursday with 35 points. Two other pairs also recorded 35 points but were beaten on countback meaning Gill Kay and Gillian Brogdon were runners up and Jan Ravenscroft and Tracey Thompson were third.

Val Nelstrop continued her excellent recent form to win the back nine stableford with 21 points. Karen Stockton was second with 20 points.

Seniors Stableford 2

Three players tied on 20 points with a back six card playoff deciding the result last Wednesday. It was John Johnston who finished in top spot, Andrew Kay was second and unlucky Mike Wells who went out first and lead right up to the last few cards went in was finsihed in third place. John Ashworth won three balls for the only two of the day on 13th hole.

Members Guest Fees

Hopefully you saw the memo from Greens that went out the other day. If not here it is again below. In summary, when you book a guest on Club V1 the system does not take payment.

My Golf

I played some competitive golf last week and was delighted to win the PGA Cheshire Championship which was played at Knutsford GC with a three under par round of 67.

I then headed to Essex to play in the PGA Seniors Championships which is 36 holes (one round at Romford GC and one round at West Essex GC followed by a cut. I’m delighted to say that I made the cut and so played the final round at Romford GC. I finished 22nd overall (240 players entered) and shot rounds of +5, level and -1 for a four over par total.

So I was very pleased with these performances and hope I can continue this good form into the rest of the season.

Photos

Thanks to Sue Bryant for these photos f the pong on the new 4th/13th hole. The big dark oval on the second photo is apparently a mass of tadpoles.

A Busy Week for the Gents Captain

The course is looking great, the weather is behaving better and there’s lots of golf to report on – what’s not to like! Let’s dive straight in….

Ping Demo Day

Alex Mason from Ping is coming to HGC on the 10th July from 1100 – 1500. He’ll bring bags (literally!) of the latest Ping clubs for you to try. If you are interested in trying and ultimately buying new clubs, please contact me to book in your apointment. There are only going to be six slots available so don’t waste time 🙂

MCJL at Bramall Park GC

Junior captain Matthew Hodder and Olly Mills flew the flag for Hale GC by competing in the first Mid Cheshire Junior League (MCJL) fixture of the season at Bramall Park GC on Sunday. Matthew scored an excellent 37 points. We’re at Warrington on Sunday and then then we host on Sunday 25th June.

Gentleman Captain’s Prize

As Brian Greenbank put it so eloquently, nobody beat the course on Saturday. It was closely bunched at the top though with Jonny Gray finishing first with 35 points. Graham Jones recorded the same score but lost on a card play off to claim second spot. The world most poorly paid greenkeeper Bill Harvey was third with 34 points!

Only 5 twos were recorded from the very full field. The Shortest Drive prize was bagged by Richard Hogben on the 10th hole. He later claimed it was purely for positional purposes! And the Furthest from the Flag prize on the new 13th hole was won by Bill Dixon, who alas didn’t convert it into a two!

Poor Glyn Isaac’s trolley ended up in the pond on the 4th/13th. It would seem by the number of photos I received of the event and it’s aftermath that his friends weren’t overly sympathetic 🙁

Adult Junior Comp

Congrats to William & James Meadowcroft for winning Friday night’s event with 20 points. Noelle & Sam Morris were beaten on a card play off to finish as runners up.

That win puts William out in front in the OoM with three events to play. However Sam Morris and Matthew Hodder are tucked in close behind.

If you would like to play in the next event on Fri 23rd June then please let me know. If you want to know what I’m talking about and whether your eligble, then please drop me a line!

Ladies 18 & 9 Hole Stablefords

Well done to Sally Budd for recording a great score of 39 stableford points to win last week’s 18 hole satbleford competition. Our hard working secretary Vicky Chamberlain was second with 37 points.

In the nine hole competition, Val Nelstrop continued her excellent recent form to win again with 19 points. Noelle Morris, who is also playing some very steady golf at the moment, was runner up with 16 points.

I love this recent tweet from Jon Sherman of Practical Golf. It’s something we all need to remember, especially when we are so fortunate to play at such a great course and club.

Photos

Here’s a photo of the Shanks Golf Society assembling at the Britannia Inn in Aberdovey last Wednesday prior to their Spring Meeting at Aberdovey GC. Thanks to Alan Bradley for the photo. And a little birdie told me that the current gentleman captain Roger Laitt was the winner of the week 🙂

Thanks to David Burkinshaw for sending in this photo of him having a spot of tree trouble on the 17th hole in Saturday’s Captain’s Prize. I love the trolley in the background to give the photo a little perspective 🙂

Clothes maketh the Man

Hope you all enjoyed your second consecutive long weekend. We had a reasonably quiet week of news this time around but hope you enjoy the missive all the same.

Ladies Competitions

Well done to Irene Kirk for winning Thursday’s May Ashton 18 hole medal competition with a nett 75. Gwynneth Bramwell was shot back to finish in the runner up spot. Sue Bryant also shot a nett 76 but was beaten by Gwynneth on countback.

Val nelstrop won the nine hole max medal competition that was played over the front nine with a nett 37. Kerry Bailey was one of four players to finish with a nett 40 but she took second place following the card paly off.

The two winners are below plus a very patriotic table decoration for the lady captain from Sandra Mossop.

Adults for the Adult Junior Comps

We have our next Adult Junior competition this Friday with tee times from 1730. Occasionally we are short of adults and that is the case for this Friday so if you’d like to play, please let me know. It’s nine holes from the forward tees and good fun.

If you can’t make this one but are available to help on other occasions, again please let me know. The remaining fixtures for 2023 are as follows:

  • Fri 12/5/23 – tee times from 1730 onwards
  • Fri 23/6/23 – tee times from 1730 onwards
  • Fri 14/7/23 – tee times from 1730 onwards
  • Fri 8/9/23 – tee times from 1710 onwards

The Coronation of King Charles III

Gentleman captain Roger Laitt was spotted at Saturday’s nights Coronation dinner wearing this classically understated jacket, waist coat and tie combination!!

Caption from Last Week’s Photo

If you recall last week we ran a caption competition for the photo of the golf shoes in the bin! Thank you to those who sent in their suggestions. My favourite was from Roger Sheen. “Where is the bin for our clubs?” he enquired. 🙂

A Good Win for our Bell Cup Team

This week, we have lots of different competition formats and results to report. There’s also information on GUR from greens and even, for a bit of fun, a caption competition!

Frolic

The bank holiday Frolic was a waltz stableford and the winners with 43 points were Tiff Fielden, Mandy Gilbert, Johnny Yates and Bob Cooke. Runners up with 40 points were Joanne & Graham Bryant and Kerry & Howard Gill.

Bell Cup

On Sunday, the Hale GC ladies beat Wilmslow GC in the first round of the Bell Cup. It was played at Hale and we won convincingly with a scoreline of 5:2. Tiff Fielden received a whopping 13 shots in her match against a plus three handicapper and won on the last! They now march on into the next round. Well done team Hale!

Junior Comp

Matthew Hodder scored 17 stableford points to win Saturday’s junior nine hole competition just pipping Ollie Grieves by one point.

Seniors Spring Stableford

The rescheduled Seniors Spring Stableford was played on Friday and Ian Goulty was one of three players to score 20 stableford points over the nine hole competition. Ian won on count back, Tony Sampson was second and Roger Da Forno finished in third place.

Ladies Competitions

Well done to Vanessa Veitch and Louise Gerald for winning last week’s Australian Sppons foursomes stableford with 37 points. Second spot went to Helen davies and Sue Bryant with 33 points.

In the back nine stableford, Noelle Morris won with 18 points and the evergreen Barbara Spark was second with 17 points.

Message from Greens – Ground Under Repair

Important! – There are currently no areas of GUR on the course.

GUR areas on the course are generally marked by a solid white line and grass cutting lines for Greenstaff to follow are marked by a dotted white line (that said the sunken area to the right of the 3rd/12th hole is currently marked by a solid white line which should be a dotted line – apologies for that!).

Whilst it is fairly easy for us to mark GUR areas when they are first established, it is often difficult to declare them back in normal play when the area has recovered but the traces of the original line and/or the letters “GUR” can still be faintly visible on the grass.

We plan in future to introduce clearer guidance to members about precisely where and when GUR areas on the course are in operation and when that situation ceases to apply.

In the meantime please remember that there are currently no GUR areas anywhere on the course so play the ball as it lies throughout the general area.

Caption Competition

The gentleman captain Roger Laitt spotted these discarded shoes in the bin by the shop and felt it may stimulate a good caption competition so please let me have ’em!!

Stars on 45

It seems Pro Shop newsletters are likes buses – you wait ages for one and then two appear practically at the same time! Hope you enjoy your second missive of the week.

Captains’ Mixed Foursomes

Well done to Kerry Bailey & Jonny Gray for winning Saturday’s Mixed Foursomes competition with a whopping 45 points! Rosie Gerrard & Glyn Isaac were runners up with 35 points.

We didn’t have enough ladies so some had to partner two different men! So ladies the message is please try and sign up for these fun competitions whenever possible.

Lady Captain’s Car Parking Space

Here’s a message from the lady captain Jan Ravenscroft:

Thank you all very much indeed for so generously supporting the Raffle for Lady Captain’s car parking space. All the money raised will go to Guide Dogs, this year’s charity.

The draw took place on Saturday afternoon, at tea after the Mixed Foursomes competition. The lucky winner was Glyn Isaac!

Hale GC Pro Am 2023

We still have some sapces left in this year’s Pro Am which takes place on Saturday 8th July. This really is a great event. If you’ve not yet played in it, why not give it a try? Just ask anyone who has particpated and I think they’ll give it a hearty thumbs up. It’s open to ladies and gents.

The format is teams of four (one professional and three amateurs) with the best two scores to count on each hole. You can enter with any handicap but the maximum playing handicap allowed on the day is 18 for men and 24 for ladies. The entry fee is £230 if all three amateurs are Hale members or £260 if one or more of the team are not Hale members.

Sandiford

Congratulaions to Guy Levers & David Rodwell for beating Tony Sampson & Andrew Fishwick 2 & 1 on Monday in the final of the Sandiford, which is the men’s winter foursomes knockout.

GPS Devices

With the new pat three 4th hole now being in operation plus other changes to the course, we are busy contacting the GPS companies to ensure that their information is correct. Shotscope and Skycaddie have updated. I am in email communication with Garmin to finalise them updating their data.

Are there any other companies that have not yet updated their information correctly? If so, please can you let me know so that I can make contact with them. Thank you.

Snips from greens – Health & Safety on the Course

The opening of our new 4th/13th hole means that the shortest route from that green back to the next teeing area for Crowbank, can tempt members to walk along the edge of the fairway of ‘Bend’ (the 3rd/12th fairway). Please do not use that route, tempting as it is, but instead use the path which is cut to run alongside the riverbank and through the sunken area which leads up to Crowbank’s 14th Teeing area. This is not only a much safer route it also avoids players on Bend having to delay play whilst waiting for their target area to clear. Thank you.

The New Patio looking good in the Sunshne

In Full Swing

It’s been a busy week so I’m a little tardy in getting my newsletter out to you all so my apologies! The good news is that there’s loads of golf to report on so I’ve simply gone through the competitions in time order with the most recent ones first.

Adult Junior

The first adult junior competition of the five event season was played on Friday evening. The scoring was excellnt, the weather stayed fine and a good time was had by all. The winners were Spencer & Andy Plastow with 26 points.

Second place was tied on 25 points but much to the gentleman captain’s delight, he & junior captain Matthew Hodder beat Adam Laitt & Hector Neary on countback.

The next one is on Friday 12th May. Please let me know if you would like to play or just require further details.

Nine & Dine

There was a great turnout for the Nine & Dine which also took place on Friday. The format was a waltz stableford and the winners with a whopping socre of 50 points over the front nine were Judy & Ian Pinnington and Ceri & Adam Hyde. Second place was secured by the all female side of Jane Wilkinson, Amanda Greaves, Sally Budd & Kairen Seaton. They were just one point behind the winners.

Thanks to Jo Egerton for her help in running the event.

Ladies Competitions

Well done to Mandy Gilbert for winning Thursday’s Bunty Booth stableford with 35 points. Louise Gerald also recorded the same score but was beaten on countback.

Pat Jefferies won the nine hole competition with a fine score of 21 points. Jane Perks finished as runner up just one point back.

The previous week, the weather took it’s toll again so only a nine hole competition was played. It was a max score medal with a three way tie at the top with scores of 38. Jo Bryant won the card play off, Noelle Morris was second and Sally Blackburn was third.

Seniors Summer Stableford 1

A super turnout of 40 seniors took place in Wednesday’s nine hole competition. Well done to John Gower-Jones for finishing in first place with 19 points. Ian Hunt was second with 18 points. Andrew Fishwick finished third also with 18 points.

Medal 1

The scoring reflected the difficult conditions for last Saturday’s Medal 1. Jonny Gray was one of four players to record a nett 70 to win on countack. Second was Nick Maxwell, Tony Adamson was third and Roger Sheen was fourth. The best gross score of the competition wwas Adam Laitt with a 76.

The weather on the alternate day was terrible – cold, wet and windy so bad luck to those players who pegged it up then.

Ladies Rules Evening

A big thank you goes to Phil Long for running the Ladies’ Rules Evening with the lady captain jan ravenscroft. The winners of the quiz were Pat Jefferies, Mandy Gilbert and Jo Egerton. Thanks to Gwynneth Bramwell for the photo.

Snips from Greens

We politely ask you to please make sure that when you making your way from the 6th green to the 7th tee that neither you nor your clubs are in the way for the group behind.

Photos

There are an eclectic mix of photos from the last seven days or so below.

Cornwall

I was very forunate earlier in the week to have a whistle stop golf tour to Cornwall where Chris Adams and I played Trevose and St Enodoc. Both courses feature in the UK’s top 100 links courses. The weather was kind to us and the courses didn’t disappoint. I have included some photos below. The first in from a clody Trevose on day one and the second two are from a much sunnier St Enodoc on day 2. If you are a lover of links golf, these two should be on your “to play” list – challenging and stunning.

4th Hole

Thanks to Ian Hunt for these photos as the birds get used to having a new pond.

Trolley Trouble

Neil Stockton is still smiling whilst rescuing his trolley as it attempted to make it’s way into the Bollin on Friday night. Phil Long took great delight in sharing this with me 🙂
